Grooming Your Sphynx
Sphynx cats do require grooming even with the lack of hair. Some weekly to monthly depending on the cat and the amount
of access oil their body produces. Also how often Mommy or Daddy wants to give one some stay cleaner than others. So it really
depends on the individual cat and owner. This is usually a very easy task since most of us sphynx breeders start to bath our
kittens at a early age. Some enjoy their bath and will purr while you lather them up. Others will try to jump down and  get
away it really depends on the individual cat or kitten. I use Dove body wash on my Sphynx,s its mild and safe for their skin  not
drying it out.
( if you use to harsh a product it will make them produce more oil).Care is taken not to get soap / water in their
ears or eyes as this can cause problems
(especially the ears ). Also due to lack of hair, sphynx ears tend to get a brown waxy
build up inside of their ears. This requires weekly cleanings usually
( again depending on the individual cat or owner).I use a ear
Cleaner solution purchased from my vet's office. Any general cleaner will work to clean ears. I put several drops in each ear,
massage the base of their ear and then allow kitty to shake their head
(loosen the debris). Then carefully use a Q-tip to remove
the wax from inside the ear. A cotton ball is always good to wipe away the excess.
Never go any further down inside the ear
than you can see.
If ears are not kept clean it can
cause infections. Ear cleaning only take a few minutes they are a
must with sphynx's. Clipping the claws can also be done at this
time, but may have to be done more often than baths, or ear cleanings depending on how fast they grow
( will differ in the
individual cat)
some once a week some bi-weekly. Now you will have a clean and groomed sphynx cat or kitten.
Temperament , Care, and Feeding
Sphynx cats and kittens are very playful, lively, and intelligent breed.  They are extremely out going, friendly, and always in the
mood to cuddle and play.  Part monkey, child, dog, and parrot
( they like to perch on your shoulder)  is the best way to describe
them.  They love to lay in the sun and bask and sleep in the bed under the covers with you at night.  They are not timid or aloof
they love to be in everything your doing. Sphynx are not a one person cat, they love the whole family, and get along great with
other pets.  Sphynx are indoor cats, they should never be left outside unattended.  Sphynx are without fur so care should be taken,
they get cold much like us.  If your comfortable then your cat is too, but if you are chilled chances your sphynx is also and probably
needs a sweater.  Sphynx tend to burn more energy keeping warm, so its important to feed a high energy food to maintain their
higher metabolisms.  I
RECOMMEND ( Royal Canin ) kitten 36  food for kittens and Royal Canin Special 33 for adults.
Appearance
A common misconception is that Sphynx are totally hairless this is not true.  Some do have a fine down covering their body that
can be felt but not seen.  The more rubbery the cat feels the less hair it has.  Most have slight hair on their nose, ears, and tail.
This hair is very fine and soft.  Wrinkled skin is highly desirable, particularly around the muzzle, between the ears and around the
shoulders.  They have warm muscular bodies, with large ears, and lemon shaped eyes (not round).  Their chest is well rounded
with a thick muscular neck.  Males are generally 25% larger than females.  Adult females usually weigh 6 to 10 pounds.  This can
vary to some extent.
